First Annual Capitol Hill Luncheon

FORMER AND CURRENT CO-CHAIRS OF THE HELSINKI COMMISSION TO BE HONORED AT THE FIRST ANNUAL CAPITOL HILL LUNCHEON SPONSORED BY THE COUNCIL FOR A DEMOCRATIC IRAN

Washington, D.C., July 10, 2009: The Council for a Democratic Iran (CDI) is pleased to announce its first annual Capitol Hill Luncheon with the U.S. Congress on July 29, 2009. Special guests U.S. Senator Sam Brownback, Republican from Kansas, and former Chairman of the U.S. Helsinki Commission, and Congressman Alcee Hastings, current Co-Chairman of the U.S. Helsinki Commission, are scheduled to address the Board and supporters of CDI.

“I’m delighted that two great defenders and advocates of freedom and human rights will be CDI’s honored guests at this important event,” said Dr. Behrooz Behbudi. “On behalf of the Board of CDI and its supporters, we look forward to an exciting and important event.”

CDI, based in Washington, D.C., is an advocacy organization dedicated to promoting an open, transparent and free Iran. It is composed of leading members of the Iranian Diaspora. CDI has also initiated the first full-time television, WIN TV, operation in Washington, D.C., and will be televising live programs and interviews to viewers in North America and Europe.
